Welcome to Shelegar
A quaint village in southern Albania, renowned for its sheep.
Inhabited by Çamë refugees (ethnic displaced Albanians) after World War II, the village was named Shelegar (from the Albanian word Shelegu= Sheep) reflecting the importance of sheep herding in the community.
Shelegar's first residents were three families: the Bani, the Beduli, and the Tusha. Over time, they welcomed families from other Albanian regions, such as the Toscs from Përmet and several Labë communities.
